George Platz, PS graduated from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying and an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering. As a licensed Professional Surveyor in Michigan, George has spent more than 35 years of his career at Spalding DeDecker, which has given him the opportunity to be a mentor and be involved with some of the best clients and employees in the industry.
George is the Director of Surveying, Chairman of the Board of Directors and ESOP Trustee at Spalding DeDecker. When asked about his career experience of working at Spalding DeDecker, George reflected that, “Being a long-term and fully engaged employee for Spalding DeDecker has given me a unique perspective of the business side of things and how it all interacts with the positive environment of being part of an employee-owned firm.”
In addition to being there for his wife and three adult kids, George believes it is important to give back both time and expertise learned throughout one’s career to your local community and educational system. He is the Chairman of the Oakland Township Planning Commission and also sits on the Michigan Tech Professional Advisory Board for Civil Engineering and Surveying.
