Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a similar field at a college or university
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Willingness and ability to learn on the job
- Strong attention to detail and thorough follow-through skills
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
You will work under the leadership of a licensed professional on active projects. As a part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be out in the field on site visits, in the office designing in AutoCAD or MicroStation, performing engineering calculations, and much more.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Individuals must be willing to:
- Work in an office environment OR outdoors in all weather elements and conditions.
- Attend client meetings and travel by car and/or plane if the project requires it.
- Participate in industry events such as conferences, relevant presentations.
- Perform project site visits.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Stand and walk frequently; lift and carry equipment; use hands to handle tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- May also work at heights, on ladders, lifts, or scaffolding as required.
- May be asked to travel.
Interning at Spalding DeDecker, I was greeted with many opportunities to learn, whether I was out in the field, in the office, or meeting with a township. My project manager and my mentor were very helpful and understanding of where I was in my educational journey. All of the engineers I met were approachable and answered any questions I had for them. I was able to learn and grow through this internship opportunity.
