Airport Road Rehabilitation

Spalding DeDecker (SD) is leading the comprehensive design and construction engineering for the rehabilitation of 3.7 miles of Airport Road, a vital north-south corridor connecting regional communities and businesses. The project introduces a hybrid stabilized base design, a forward-thinking blend of asphalt stabilization and cement treatment, engineered to enhance durability, reduce material costs, and extend pavement life under heavy commercial traffic.

Beyond strengthening the roadway, the project improves safety and mobility with 4-foot paved shoulders, a dedicated center turn lane between Stoll and Clark Roads, a northbound right-turn lane at Clark Road, and a hill cut to improve sight distance. SD also designed a new traffic signal at Stoll Road and upgraded the existing system at Clark Road for smoother traffic flow.

With services spanning geotechnical analysis, wetland delineation, drainage, and traffic control, SD’s integrated approach ensures a safer, longer-lasting roadway that reflects both innovation and fiscal responsibility.
