Spalding DeDecker (SD) is supporting Integrated Design Solutions (IDS) with the development of a new four-story residence hall located on the north side of Top Taggart Field. Designed within a tight footprint, the project required careful coordination to address fire protection needs, a water main loop extension, utility routing around an existing underground tunnel, and significant grade changes.
Our team collaborated closely with the IDS on the site grading to achieve the desired presentation of the proposed building.
The City of Big Rapids’ Fire and Utilities Departments were engaged to confirm compliance with municipal requirements. Prior to construction, we worked with the contractor to anticipate and resolve site considerations and provide timely responses during construction to maintain the schedule. Construction is expected to be completed in August 2026.
