Pontiac Parks Master Planning

Teaming with the City of Pontiac, the Spalding DeDecker (SD) team was tasked with creating comprehensive design upgrades for ten neighborhood parks, each with unique needs and identities. Beginning with site visits, data collection, and a review of the City’s 2021–2025 Parks and Recreation Master Plan, our team worked to understand existing conditions and long-term community goals.

A robust public engagement strategy ensured residents played a central role in shaping each park’s vision. Through online surveys, pop-up events in the parks, and a citywide public meeting, we gathered meaningful input that guided the development of preliminary concepts.

After review by City Council and the Parks and Recreation staff, final concept plans and cost estimates were refined to reflect both community priorities and practical implementation. The resulting designs provide each park for upgrades that enhance safety, accessibility, and recreational value for the City of Pontiac.
