Red Run Park

Spalding DeDecker (SD) is leading transformative improvements at Red Run Park, a 12.8-acre community asset in Sterling Heights funded through a local millage. The project enhances regional connectivity by linking the park to the statewide Iron Belle Trail and adding a new pedestrian bridge over the Red Run Drain, creating vital connections to Baumgartner Park and local pathway networks.

Guided by extensive resident feedback, the improvements include new pickleball courts, a dog park, interior trails, pavilions, and upgraded play areas. SD is providing comprehensive services such as grading design, pathway layout, drainage engineering, wetland delineation, landscape architecture, bidding support, and construction inspection.

The site’s location is a challenge as it is within the floodplain and floodway, requiring careful coordination with the Macomb County Office of Public Works and EGLE. The resulting design prioritizes safety, permissibility, and resilient park amenities while preserving the City’s vision for an accessible, high-quality recreation destination.
