Today the contractor placed temporary pavement markings on the road and is working to install signs and complete restoration by the end of the week. Most of the concrete driveways along Miller Road are now safe to use unless there are barrels in front of them. The contractor plans to open the road after the restoration is complete and the signs are installed.
Please keep in mind that this project is not yet complete. The contractor will return next spring to place the top layer of asphalt on the road and complete other miscellaneous items. We will inform you when the contractor plans to return next year to complete the project.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the construction this year. We understand that working in a neighborhood directly impacts the residents and can cause delays, inconveniences, and frustration.

The contractor has informed us that they now have all the asphalt down they are going to place this year. They will finish the top course next spring.
Concrete for all driveways should be finished by early next week. Residents with the barrels removed from their driveways should now be able to access them. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the concrete to cure on the driveways that still have barrels in front of them.
We understand Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and some residents will be having family attend. The City has told us that temporary parking will be permitted on Miller Road during this time at the owner's risk. Please have vehicles removed from the road by Sunday evening.
Next week the contractor will work on the remaining concrete driveways and sidewalks, restoration, temporary pavement markings, and signs.
We will send an update once all driveway concrete is cured. We expect this to be next week.
We greatly appreciate your patience during the pavement construction rush over the last few weeks.
Thank you, and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

We anticipate that once the new concrete is installed it will take 7 to 10 days before residents can resume to use their driveways.

Starting Monday (11/07/2022) of next week, the contractor will begin installing curb and gutter in front of the houses on the north and south sides of Miller Road from Colchester to Hammerburg. They plan to start on the south side of the road. During this time residents will not be able to access their driveways and should seek other places to park on side streets.
After the curb is placed, the contractor will begin removing residents' driveways, grading them, and then placing new concrete driveways. During this entire process, it may take up to 10 days before the concrete is ready and residents are able to access their driveways again. The concrete will be tested during this time, and when it has been determined safe to drive on, Spalding DeDecker will send an email update letting everyone know they can access their new driveways.
Please be mindful that this schedule is dependent on weather, materials, and subcontractor scheduling issues. We will send an update if we hear anything different from the contractor.

The contractor is finishing water service leads, and all homes on Miller Road between Colchester Road and Ballenger Highway will be connected to the new water main.
The contractor will then transition into grading the south side of the road over the water main trench and will start removing pavement and driveways on the north side of the road which will narrow the road a bit.
All homeowners and businesses will have local access only.
It is highly recommended to avoid any unnecessary driving through the construction zone and follow the detour.

The contractor will begin water service installation on Monday, June 20th.
This work entails switching the water service lines for the homes and businesses directly on Miller Road (between Ballenger Highway and Knight Ave/Colchester Road) from the old water main to the new water main.
Residents may experience a 15-minute average time frame where their water will be turned off while the contractor makes this transition. For each home or business affected by this water shut down, an attempt will be made to notify them before the water is turned off. Once the switch is complete, the Flint Water Department recommends turning on your cold water until all air is out of your pipes. They also recommend running your cold water for approximately 10 minutes to flush out the pipes.
Any questions can be directed to the Flint Water Department.
