52nd District Courthouse
The 52nd District 3rd Division Court serves the cities of Auburn Hills, Lake Angelus, Rochester, and Rochester Hills; the townships of Addison, Oakland, Orion, and Oxford; and the villages of Lake Orion, Leonard, and Oxford. As case loads grew, it became necessary to construct a new facility of adequate size to satisfy the court’s needs. At the same time, the Oakland County Sheriff’s substation in Rochester Hills was outdated and also too small to meet their needs, so the two entities decided to partner for the construction of a new facility to satisfy their requirements.
The new 65,000 square foot, two-story courthouse with connecting police substation building, was built on 9.2 acres on the west side of Barclay Circle, a few hundred feet from the previous site.
Spalding DeDecker was the Civil Engineering and Surveying consultant on the project. The site engineering work included paving and grading design, stormwater management, sanitary sewer, and water main design.
