UPDATE (2/13/25) Tacoma Hills Neighborhood
Consumers Energy will begin natural gas utility work in mid-to-late February. This work is estimated to be
completed between late March and mid-April.
Consumers Energy will replace a natural gas main and gas service lines that serve homes in the Tacoma Hills
neighborhood. If the service line to your house needs to be replaced, Consumers Energy will contact you
directly to schedule this work. Gas service to your home will need to be shut off for a brief period to
complete the replacement. Scheduling with Consumers Energy in a timely manner will help keep the Local
Roads Program on track.

This work is being performed in coordination with Meridian Township’s Local Roads Program to reduce the
need to cut the newly paved roads in the future. The roads that will be resurfaced in 2025 are shown in blue on
the map at the bottom of this update, and Consumers Energy will be working in the project limits shown in blue
on the map.
Spot repairs to storm drains will also be performed in coordination with the 2025 road resurfacing in Tacoma
Hills.

The contractor is scheduled to be in the area over the next week to place seed and mulch in areas of need.
Areas C and D
The contractor is waiting for utilities to be marked on Mack so they can finish the culvert installation. All manholes have been adjusted and most areas have been restored. An aggregate shoulder still needs to be placed in a few areas along with three asphalt approaches.

Area A and Area B:
The Contractor is contractually responsible for finishing all storm damaged locations and punch list items in areas A & B. Work should be completed in the near future.
Area C and Area D:
All roadway paving has been completed. The contractors still have to install culverts, replace driveways and shoulders, and complete the clean-up along the edges of the road. The contractor will be on-site over the next few weeks to finish the remaining outstanding work.

Area A and Area B:
The Contractor is contractually responsible for finishing all storm damaged locations and punch list items in areas A & B. Work should be completed shortly after the Labor Day holiday.
Area C and Area D:
The Contractor will begin cement stabilization on August 26th and August 27th. Work will start in Area C (Reynolds) and finish in Area D (Hickory Lane and Carlton). NOTE: Residents in these areas should move their vehicles by 7:00 am Monday (8/26) and Tuesday (8/27). The streets should reopen approximately 4 hours after the completion of each street. Final asphalt paving is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3rd.

Looking ahead to the week of August 18th:
Area A and B
The contractor will be in the area over the next two weeks, making all repairs and finishing any outstanding items that still need to be completed.
Area C and Area D
The contractor has completed pulverizing all roads in Areas C & D and will continue to grade these areas over the next week.
The cement stabilization of the roads in Areas C & D will begin on 8/26 and 8/27. More information will be available as the dates draw near.
Access to your residence will remain open, but you may incur small delays.

The Contractor will start the crushing and shaping of the asphalt on Monday, August 12th, which will take approximately one week. Soil stabilizing, fine grading, and paving will follow in the coming weeks. The construction process will take approximately four weeks.

The contractor continues to place shoulder gravel and topsoil in areas A and B.
July 1 - July 5
Areas A and B: The contractor will begin pouring concrete driveways and raising manhole castings in the streets next week.
Concrete driveways will have a minimum cure time of 3 days and may take 5 days.
No work will occur July 4-5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Area C and Area D: Road work is currently scheduled to begin on July 22. Updates will be posted as the date draws nearer.

Area A: The top course of asphalt and the project restoration should take place in approximately 2 weeks. Area B: All roads have been pulverized and are currently being reshaped.
June 10 - June 14
The contractor will complete the ditch clean out and culvert replacements as directed by the plans. Road grading and aggregate base compaction will continue throughout the week. A date has not been set for the first placement of asphalt.

Area B: Pavement removal is scheduled to begin on Thursday (6/6/24). Road grading should begin immediately after. Residents will continue to have access to their driveways with occasional minimal delays.

All of the aggregate base has been graded and compacted. The base course of asphalt has been placed for all streets in phase A. All mailboxes have been relocated as necessary. No work is expected on Monday, May 27 due to Memorial Day.
May 28 - May 31
The contractor is scheduled to replace culverts and clean out the specified ditches for Phase A. The contractor will start lowering structures in Area B starting on Thursday 5/30/24 & Friday 5/31/24.

The streets listed below are to be resurfaced in 2024. This work is being done as part of the Meridian Township Local Roads Program, funded by the Township Local Roads Millage. The road resurfacing will generally consist of pulverizing/ grinding-up and re-grading the existing asphalt surface into a new gravel base (crushing & shaping), then repaving with new asphalt pavement. The construction is anticipated to proceed by Area, in the approximate order shown in the table below.
